The Best Avocado Recipes by Tasty

By now I’m sure most of us have heard of Tasty by Buzzfeed. If not you will definitely recognize their signature mini recipe videos floating all over social media. These videos have taken the internet by storm in the past few years causing many to adopt the format of overhead food making.

And we’re not hating it!

Our first thought was more recipes should be made into an easy video like this! Sure you can send me a list of ingredients and how to do it but a video provides so much value. No more getting confused by someones tell you to flambate something. Now you can see it be done!

We decided to find the best videos put out by Tasty that relate to the avocado. Here are our pics and we included the recipes for good measure.

Baked Avocado And Coconut Wedges

Baked Avocado and Coconut Wedges

For the Wedges:
  • 1 Ripe Avocado
  • 200g Plain Flour
  • 1 tbsp Paprika
  • 1 tbsp Pepper
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • Egg
  • Desiccated Coconut
For the Dip:
  • 3 tbsp Soured Cream
  • 1 tbsp Mayonnaise (optional)
  • 1 tsp Lime Juice
  • 5g Roughly Chopped Coriander
Directions:

1.) Cut the avocado into thick wedges – if it’s ripe enough, the skin should easily peel off.
2.) Prepare your bowls – stir the flour, paprika, salt and pepper into one bowl. Beat an egg into another bowl, finally put some desiccated coconut into a third bowl.
3.) Dip your coconut wedges into each bowl in order flour>egg>coconut.
4.) Cook the wedges on a baking tray in the centre of a pre-heated oven 180°C/350°F/Gas Mark 4 for 12-15 minutes, turning once or twice until some of the coconut has browned and crisped up a bit

To make the dip:

1.) Simply stir the soured cream, mayo, lime juice and coriander together until it looks like a nice dip!


Baked Beetroot Burger

Baked Beetroot Burger

For the burgers:
  • 200g Cooked Beetroot
  • 100g Red Onion
  • 100g Chickpeas
  • 30g Oats
  • 10g Coriander
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
Suggested Toppings:
  • 4 Wholewheat Buns
  • 1 Avocado
  • 4 tbsp hummus
Method:

1.) Roughly chop the beetroot, red onion and coriander and blend them, along with all the other ‘burger’ ingredients in a food processor until well combined
2.) Form the mixture into 4 even sized burgers and chill for 30 minutes in the fridge
3.) Bake your burgers in the centre of a pre-heated oven for 20-25 minutes 180°C/ 350°F/ Gas Mark 4. Turning once or twice.
4.) Serve on a toasted wholewheat bun, with 1/4 of an avocado and a big dollop of hummus
5.) Tuck in!

(Alternatively, for a slightly sweeter, softer burger you can shallow fry these in vegetable or coconut oil for 4-5 minutes on each side. If they need to crisp up a bit, you could throw them under the grill for a few minutes afterwards, turning occasionally.)


Green Smoothie Bowl

Green Smoothie Bowl

For the Base:
  • 1/2 Kiwi
  • 1/4 Avocado
  • 50g Fresh Spinach
  • 75g Natural Yoghurt
  • 75ml Coconut Water
  • 1 tbsp Honey
Suggested Toppings:
  • Raspberries
  • Desiccated Coconut
  • Hazelnuts
  • Sunflower Seeds
  • Blueberries
  • More Yoghurt
Method:

Throw all of the ‘base’ ingredients into a blender and whizz until smooth. (You can adapt this entire recipe as much or as little as you like, we chose to make one that looks super green with a somewhat neutral taste to let the toppings bring the flavour)

Our suggested toppings are just that too, suggestions – be as creative as you like here – pecans, flax seeds, sliced peaches – whatever you like. Make a cool design too!

Avocado Salsa

Ingredients
  • 3 ripe avocados, diced
  • ½ red onion, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • ¼ cup cilantro, chopped
  • 2 limes, juiced
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • ½ cup feta cheese
  • Tortilla chips, for serving
Preparation

In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients and gently mix together.

For best flavor, allow to set 30 minutes.

Garnish with additional feta just before serving.

Avocado Carbonara

Ingredients:
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 egg yolk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 clove garlic
  • ½ lemon, juiced
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 3 strips bacon
  • ½ lb spaghetti
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
Preparation
  1. Blend avocado, egg yolk, garlic, and lemon juice in a powerful blender or food processor.
  2. Pulse to blend and add heavy cream gradually. Blend the sauce until smooth and set aside.
  3. Cut up strips of bacon and cook in a large pan. Set aside.
  4. In a large pot, bring water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions.
  5. Drain and coat with olive oil.
  6. Add sauce, bacon, parmesan, salt and pepper, stirring until well-combined.
  7. Serve and sprinkle with parmesan.
  8. Enjoy!

Dressing:

  • ¼ cup lime juice

Avocado Toast 9 Ways

Avocado Rose Avocado Toast

Ingredients:
  • bread, toasted
  • ½ avocado, sliced
  • 1 strawberry, sliced
Preparation:
  • Thinly slice half of an avocado. Keep slices together and start molding them into a line.
  • Start folding one end inside and wrapping other end around in a circle.
  • Place rose-shaped avocado on toast and add sliced strawberries at each corner of the toast.
  • Enjoy!

Spinach & Artichoke Avocado Toast

Ingredients:
  • bread, toasted
  • 2 tablespoons spinach and artichoke dip
  • ½ avocado, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese, shaved
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Preparation:
  • Spread spinach and artichoke dip on toast.
  • Top with sliced avocado and shaved Parmesan cheese, and sprinkle with parsley.
  • Enjoy!

Pesto & Parmesan Avocado Toast

Ingredients:
  • bread, toasted
  • 2 tablespoons spinach and artichoke dip

  • Spread pesto on toast.

  • 2 tablespoons feta cheese
Preparation:

Ingredients:

Preparation:

  • Add sliced avocados, strawberries, and drizzle with balsamic vinegar.

Ingredients:

  • ½ avocado, mashed
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • 1 egg, fried to preference
  • Sriracha
Preparation:
  • Mash half of an avocado. Add salt and pepper, to taste. Mix until well combined.
  • Spread the mashed avocado evenly across toast.
  • Top with the fried egg, and drizzle with Sriracha.
  • Enjoy!

Caprese Avocado Toast

Ingredients:
  • bread, toasted
  • ½ avocado, mashed
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • 2 heirloom tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 mozzarella ball, sliced
  • 1 handful fresh basil, chopped
Preparation
  • Mash half of an avocado. Add salt and pepper, to taste. Mix until well combined.
  • Spread the mashed avocado evenly across toast, and top with heirloom tomatoes, mozzarella, and chopped basil.
  • Enjoy!

BLT Avocado Toast

Ingredients:
  • bread, toasted
  • ½ avocado, mashed
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • ½ tomato, sliced
  • romaine lettuce, shredded
  • 2 strips bacon, crumbled
Preparation:
  • Mash half of an avocado. Add salt and pepper, to taste. Mix until well combined.
  • Spread the mashed avocado evenly across toast, then top with tomatoes, lettuce, and bacon.
  • Enjoy!
