I always wonder how my vegan friends were able to resist the temptation of an ice cream treat in the hot summer months. We’ve tried a number of the alternatives but it just never came close to being as satisfying. Boy how things have changed.
In the past few years, we’ve really seen the vegan section in the frozen dessert aisle start to ramp up. Our newest and favorite of the bunch, avocado ice cream!
The company behind it is a family one called Cado and claim its the first non-dairy ice cream with heart-healthy avocado fat.
Cado is made by mixing puréed avocado with added ingredients to create the line’s different flavors. Flavors to date are chocolate, mint chocolate chip, and lemon. Cado also has plans to introduce java chip,, salted caramel, vanilla, and cherry Amaretto in the future.
Although the blend doesn’t really taste like avocados (we would love if it did). Avocados are used to get the creamy texture as well as the health benefits. Did we mention it is also certified organic?
